Meeting up with 15-20 folk from Loz's work, I suggested this place and arrived earlier, so another cheeky Festbier this time from Flugwerk, Feldkirchen nr München.

Yeah I saw the line-up with Noel Burke a number of times. I like Reverberation, clearly was a chance for Will to do something different. On reflection maybe they should have called themselves something else & got a lot more credit. Saw Electrification quite a bit & McCulloch solo & reformed Bunnymen

How many times did you see the original lineup? Sadly I only saw them on one occasion, I was probably just a little bit young to see them at their peak early to mid 80's.

Hi Elroy. Yes I appreciate that there are many other Oktoberfests around it's not all about the big daddy of them all, in fact it's really becoming the thing now at this time of year, even the UK seems to offer quite a few.

Nice article. I'm with you on Alvinne, I know that they have a lot of love and there's been the occasional hit for me but these days I avoid, they just don't really do it for me and never really have.

The one Oktoberfest beer that had completely that had eluded me in the Getrankemarkts and supermarkets over the last few weeks, I then nip to our most local though very small Edeka in Innernzell and unbelievably they have a crate or two amongst the miniscule beer selection they have 🤣

First my brothers, Dumbleton (between Evesham & Cheltenham) then my dad's at Kilburn between Derby & Belper, then Loz's Mum and sister at Spond nr Kington, Herefordshire and finally my Mum at Kempsey on the outskirts of Worcester. Anywhere nr you Keef?

Yeah I thought with that stash you'd ordered direct. I only asked because I'll be in the UK very soon and would pick up 2-3 to bring back. However I'll be in a few different towns and cities visiting family so can head to more than one to check.

Yeah I think so, I enjoyed both, but the Augustiner seemed to carry a distinct bitterness that wasn't as subtle as I was expecting or recall from previous years.

It was a 50/50 chance on my sixth go and opted for the wrong one 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really nice read 👍🏼. I've also been trying all the beers again this year and I completely agree that they really vary year on year. We managed to briefly visit a couple of tents this year, Augustiner and Hacker Pschorr otherwise the rest of my taste tests came from bottle or cans.

Is it available in Waitrose yet?

I'm on a Löwenbrau but a more manageable 500ml 🤣

Everytime I think that's it for sitting up at the top of the garden for the year we manage another ☀️ day. Okay it's only 9c but we've been working so we're quite warm, & in the sun ☀️ it feels much more pleasant. Anyway another Oktoberfest beer but sadly head disappeared before photo. Cheers all 🍻

I've had similar discussions, a few times with the young German work colleague I picked up on my drive to work every morning. It was really hard work trying to convince him that he needed a big rethink on this, particularly hard as he spoke no English & my limited German was being severely tested.

Yeah walking up to our local last Friday night we saw lots of sloes. It looks like it might be a bumper year for them this year.
