Toronto! I'm coming to visit The Power Plant Gallery this Saturday afternoon to talk about how my recent books and life experiences connect with two current exhibits by artists Jeneen Frei Njootli and Lucy Raven. It's free and open to everyone! www.thepowerplant.org/whats-on/cal...
If you're in Sudbury, come out to the Doran Planetarium at Laurentian U on Thursday at 7PM to hear Madhur Anand read from her latest novel To Place a Rabbit. It's one of the most thought-provoking and unique books I've ever read, and I'm stoked that I get to ask her about it on stage!
Thanks a lot for taking a look!
The start of a new month already!? @waub.bsky.social wrote that the Anishinaabe name for this month is Onaabenii-giizis, meaning moon of the crusted snow, which matches the snow conditions here in Ottawa right now, and is also the title of his apocalyptic novel ecwpress.com/products/moo... .
I love Saskatchewan so much I'm coming back for a 2nd visit this winter! If you're in North Battleford, please come to the library on Wednesday to hang out. In the afternoon I'll share some writing advice with students, and in the evening I'll talk about the path to Moon of the Turning Leaves
Definitely never heard him speak with that much spirit before!
The blue and white maple leaf means more to me anyways so I’m stoked for Auston
Thanks a lot for sharing!
I really appreciate you taking the time to read it and share your thoughts! Miigwech!
Thank you very much for your kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to read both
If you haven’t read Moon of the Turning Leaves yet, please do. It is the follow up to Moon of the Crusted Snow & @waub.bsky.social has gifted us a deeply moving & beautiful story filled with love, trust & resilience (+ a few moments of deep grief) within his words. A true balm for my weary heart 💙📚
We're posting some of our greatest hits starting with the inspiring column, "Speaking Your Story into Existence," from Waubgeshig Rice (@waub.bsky.social), bestselling author of MOON OF THE CRUSTED SNOW (@ecwpress.bsky.social) and more!

If you're looking to add another podcast to your listening habits I would recommend Unknown Worlds of the Merril Collection. They recently spun back up again with a good interview with @waub.bsky.social His books are great and worth checking out.
Big thanks!
'For the second year in a row, @waub.bsky.social’s 2018 dystopian novel Moon of the Crusted Snow is indie booksellers’ top-selling title published by a Canadian press.' #BookSky #CanLit #BuyCanadian 📚🍁
Nice! Looks like a good winter project!
Thanks again for having me, sir! I really enjoyed chatting with you both. Keep up the great work!
It was a real treat to have @waub.bsky.social on the pod this week. As an author I admire, his insights meant a lot and he may have even convinced me to try my hand at fiction one day. Catch it on Eastlink or listen below.

My only complaint about hearing “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” a million times this past week is being repeatedly subjected to Gordon Lightfoot’s butchering of “gichi gami”. He clearly didn’t have a Anishinaabemowin speaker nearby during songwriting!
