I get what you mean but looking at the BTS Jareth is described as like a "teen heartthrob". IMO that would have the same effect if they chose an actor who was still a teen you know? Like Bowie being 38 and looking very much so didn't do it for me. Plus he's like 300 years old in canon.... nah
A lot of movies from the 80's, early 90's get the rightful label of "creepy". But there's one that people severely overlook. Labyrinth with David Bowie is creepy okay? It was a hard watch. It just made me itch.
