“However, if autism researchers are outright dismissing the living experiences of autistic people and don’t see us as partners in knowledge production, then you have to question ”why?”
I share my thoughts on the controversial Uta Frith TES article below ⬇️

Absolutely
Being a neurodivergent adult feels like a constant battle of trying to prevent burnout.
Happy #caturday from my Milo
Is there a way to automatically send emails that have been AI generated to junk? Every single email I’ve been receiving written by AI is spam.
It looked like it to me at first, but the holes in the tray are too big for muffins and are Yorkshire pudding size!
Only in Yorkshire 😂
Yes, that’s the one
It is reading it!
I'm doing a deep dive into the recent Uta Firth article and honestly, I regret ever going down this rabbit hole 🤦♀️
Exactly! As that would massively affect how I answer that question too.
The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

Makes sense; often there is a lot more to it than these questions allow for an answer.
Yep, not all museums and theatres are the same. It’s a too simplistic question.
Exactly! What type of show? What kind of museum? Because that will influence my answer so much more!
Non autistic people: "You don't speak for all autistic people" "My autistic nephew isn't like that" "Autism doesn't define you"
Also non autistic people: All autistic people prefer museums to theatres 🧐
For those unfamiliar, AQ is a controversial screening tool for autism assessments.
One of the questions asks if you prefer visiting museums or the theatre, and you score points for preferring museums on the screener.
So you know how many of us laugh at the ‘do you prefer the museum or theatre?’ question on the AQ.
Well, I’ve just realised that I’ve been on multiple theatre trips with groups of only autistic people but never for visiting museums 😂
Nope, tourism management.
I just about scraped through my English GCSE 😂
So I just had a call from my old uni for my undergraduate degree, wanting to know what I’ve done in the last ten years with it.
I just said I was busy as I didn’t think they’d want an info dump on how I never really used the degree and it’s irrelevant to what I’m doing now 😂
Sadly, these memes get more relevant every day.
It can be so hard to navigate at times!
Sorry to hear it’s affected you in similar ways too!
So true. I think this affected me more when I was younger and I didn’t have a choice who I was around.
Like you said, if they can’t understand, they are not your people!
Autism moment of the day.
Spotting multiple factual errors in the autobiography I’m reading. 🤣
Once there was a bland food option I could select in advance. Initially I thought it was great, but they gave no further details.
On the day it turned out that the regular option was better for my sensory needs than the bland food option I had specifically selected 🤦🏻♀️😂
Sometimes the food on offer will be fine, and other times it won’t be, and I can never really know until I’m in the moment.
One of the hardest things I find to self-advocate for is sensory needs around food.
I have no other dietary needs or allergies, but when this question is asked, it’s hard to know how to respond and be understood.
Do other neurodivergent people experience similar?
