Laborious and jarring as it may be to adjust course on the fly, hosting where we can't go isn't a plan, it's a refusal to adapt to the reality of our times. Opening digital attendance is a cost-effective option for genuine community inclusion. www.cbc.ca/news/busines... #alaac25

The programming looks great, and I'd love to catch even a single day's attendance, but I'm not risking border crossing in Trump's America.

Via the @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social's site, #alaac25 won't offer the digital experience this year. It's my 1st year as a member, so please correct me if I'm off, but this means in-person attendance only, no? So Canadian attendees *must* gamble on land border crossings, or fly over with a gutted FAA?

Also: having ERRANT NIGHT be reviewed by the Australian Book Review - damn near the highest level of literary critique in the country - and ALSO be shortlisted for the John Bray award? Incredibly humbling, and so damn validating for my first book. x

My debut verse novella ERRANT NIGHT remains my proudest professional accomplishment to date. Took me 3 years & 112 drafts, but I got to work with a world-class editor & be published in my dream publishing house. It’s my crown jewel; a lifelong dream come true.

Β APS. Oh APS. I owe so much to this piece, to this org, to performing at the Sydney Opera House, and having a vid after to share! This poem defined my practice for a long time, and I’m still damn proud of that shy kid reppin' the ACT on stage.

Firestarter – Cicerone Journal

[Firestarter]
Oh sharehouses! A nod to what we’re willing to accept as living conditions. This was where enjambment hit me as a tool to keep. I was listening to Gil Scott-Heron & reading Ginsberg, trying to figure out what kinda poet I wanted to be. Still am.

[Truckstop Nights]
This poem was an ode to the long coach rides I'd take, and the possibility that fills the air in those halfway pitstops. For that reason, I was thrilled that hobo camp review took it on board; it felt like a match made on the open road.

Righteous indignation is a real buzz. Very proud to get into Cordite, too! That had been a goal for a long time. One of those beautiful bursts of writing; very little editing needed doing after the first draft written in the moment.

Damn it's good to be here. Outta that hellscape & in a new home, I thought I’d set up house by revisiting some of my older work available online with fresh eyes. In no particular order:
