The big little comics store hanging out under the stairs at Harrogate's Everyman Cinema. We love everything Comics, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Likely to re-post about comics we like the look of. Posting mostly by Regie, store owner. www.destinationvenus.co.uk

Tom Holland is in the news - congratulations are in order if reports are to be believed. However, rules are rules, and this slice of awesomeness must be posted whenever the name of Holland is invoked...

He can be charged with more than one crime. Being charged with MIPO allows for extensive searches of both physical and digital spaces. If evidence of more crimes is uncovered he can be charged. Of course, MIPO is really hard to convict on so a cynic might say the plan is to get him aquitted...

Not enough people know that in order to be considered for an Eisner Award... you have to SEND YOUR SHIT IN!!!!
The ONLY works considered are those that are submitted. And ANYONE can submit.
Was not aware of this show but it sounds right up my street. Off to find out where I can watch it in the UK...
16.02.2026 23:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It always blows my mind that I get to vote on these - but I can't vote for you if you don't get nominated - and as @jordancollver.bsky.social points out, if you make comics you CAN be nominated. If you're a small press/self published creator get yourself on the list!

Hi new friends! We make comics, and for the last year weβve been making a smart, hella gay romcom about weddings, crime, and how shitty rich people can be.
Check out the cover and first 10 pages in the link, check the hashtag #WorstManOGN for a bunch of WIP stuff, and maybe give it a preorder?
He showed real grace. I had found the hype around him more than a little annoying, but that's on the media, not him. His reaction was the essence of sportsmanship.

any chance of a share for our Strip anthology currently on Kickstarter, featuring Frazer Irving, Declan Shalvey and Roger Langridge, and edging closer to its target Stripwire presents? thanks

I have told a few MPs this. I genuinely feel a lot of adults hate the existence and needs of young people. Then they act surprised/bewildered that these kids are anxious/depressed.

Also - if you're in Harrogate between now and April, the Avery Hill "Vision and Labour" exhibition featuring a metric shedload of original art from Avery Hill books is still on at Harrogate's Mercer Art Gallery...

I wasn't thinking that so much as I was in my forties and bought the store because I was thinking it was my last chance to achieve the dream - because I was middle aged and such chances would be unlikely to reoccur.
And that was a decade ago, so...
Neil Gaiman has returned to the Internet to signal boost a Substack 'investigation' by an independent journalist known as "technopathology" which apparently proves his innocence
the main thing it proves is technopathology needs an editor.

@davidmbarnett.bsky.social was the first comics pro to visit Desties after I took over. Heck of a nice chap - and Punk's Not Dead is two volumes of absolute perfection. If you have not read it, do so.
Then demand another volume. Because you'll want one.
Professionally? If we're counting "Comics Retailers" as "Comics Professionals" (and I get to vote as a professional in the Eisner Awards, so I guess we are) it'll be ten years in March.
Gods dammit but I'm old.
Just published a book.
Think it's good.
People say it is.
But really need to sell more copies.
Please grab one. Cheap!

Digital illustration of a young man under green and orange neon lights at night. Blurred neon signs are behind him. He has shoulder-length blonde hair parted on the side, flowing as he walks, multiple face piercings, smokey eye make up, and is casually smoking a cigarette
Digital illustration depicting a one-armed french world war one soldier in a field of tall grass. He is ablaze as he smokes a cigarette and holds his rifle lanyard with his hand. In the background are church ruins in foggy weather. The tones are blue and orange.
Illustration depicting a terrifyingly skinny woman with long silver hair parted towards the front. The illustration depicts her from behind. She's missing an arm and has a damaged prothestic limb as replacement. She's holding a cutter pointed towards a bright red square in the centre of her spine
Digital painting of an abandoned barn and hanger by the train tracks on a stormy, orange day - the hanger has graffiti on it, and the small shack in the back has its door open out of which a red glow eminates
