I feel like this series is going to have very diminishing returns over time. What happens when you run out of landed gentry? "Bed me, postmaster"? "Toss me over your shoulder, vicar"? "Finger me behind the privet hedge, second assistant gardener"?

I am the above-mentioned partner and just wanted to say that I could hear everyone's voices--Smiley's, Connie's, Peter Guillam's--in my head so vividly as I was reading Karla's Choice, and since I have no internal narrative that's truly a feat. They were so deeply themselves! Favorite book of '24.

I don't know if this is an autistic-brain thing, but one of the thing that really freaks me out about the current reality is that I really deeply and fundamentally don't understand why anyone would ever choose cruelty over problem-solving.

I know I should fully flee instagram (as I did facebook) and this is the reasonable alternative, but I kind of don't know how to exist on this platform. I log in like once a month and then feel so jumbled looking at everything.

I came home today and found that the lawn was unexpectedly mowed. The simplest explanation I could come up with was Occam's grazer

Hello sorry sorry I apparently only look at bluesky every couple weeks oh no! But yes, would be happy to teach mending stuff (pink mend is after I learned more!). But also seconding Bombas! I've had their running socks for like four years and they're still going strong! I wear no other socks now!
