Okay the Luger P08 is *finally* ready for texturing - I didn't realize how much asymmetrical detail was still needing done since the last time I worked on it!

This one took way too long but it's finally wrapped up!
Now I need to go back to the Luger texture I've been neglecting...

CULTIC Pogs woulda been a great option lol
My 3D printer would hate printing those voxels almost as much as Unity hates rendering them π
Shockingly, Printful does not offer eyeball neck pillows as a product! :(
I've had a fair amount of folks ask about it: Yes, there is some CULTIC merch! It's on my little Printful store which I mainly set up so I could order stuff for myself π
It's all on-demand fulfillment though so brace yourself for the shipping prices

If you're still waiting to play CULTIC or any of the other great games here, this is your chance! Absolute steal and benefits charity!
You can also add Chapter 2 to this bundle for 20% off, so good opportunity to jump on that too!
Yep!
Key art concept by the incredibly talented PerennialAstronaut! bsky.app/profile/mkdo...
Alrighty folks, time to pull back the curtain a bit - WWII game is real!
Development is still in the very early stages, but enjoy this concept piece for FLASH THUNDER - a retro-flavored shooter inspired by Medal of Honor.

Spent this morning putting together a new vault animation to try and avoid the awkward body positioning from the first version - coming together nicely! Still needs some smoothing out but I think it'll work much better
#gamedev
Yeah that's definitely a fallback, I'm just personally not a fan of the "first person view model vaguely wiggles the off-hand and that's the mantle animation" for a game like this.
Yeah more or less. The player camera is only allowed to inherit ~20% of the rig's rotation and isn't allowed to roll at all, and that % would probably be multiplied by the comfort settings for camera movement
Yep that's how it's handled at the moment
Tinkering with vaulting/mantling...
It is tricky finding a balance between first-person comfort and pacing, and keeping up that full-body awareness!
How much do you fake with viewmodels and how much do you stick to your physical world rig? π€π€

Working on some vaulting/mantling animations
Crazy how he does all this without a head!
#gamedev
we togglin' and lockin' now lads
#gamedev
Yeah but this ain't for CULTIC π
Oh so you don't want me to put this handheld 40mm cannon in the game?
I'm gonna give the Jerries a fighting chance but Lord help me I've never handled a Luger P08 and I'm just scratching my head watching the action work in slow motion and looking at parts online
(I could just make these models less detailed but where's the fun in that)
#gamedev
Helmet and webbing done!
Since this is mainly for the player's own first-person animations, I uhh might procrastinate on the head/face further...

Workin' my way up!
Still gotta texture the webbing kit and the head/helmet but getting closer!

I mostly just find good reference photos and do a lot of photobashing - cutting, pasting, perspective correction, etc., then stamping and painting to fill in the gaps, then color/value correction on the final product
Good question! I usually don't go nuts with loops at deform spots (knees shoulders etc) until I get to weight painting! Its easy enough to loop cut and adjust without messing up the UVs so I usually do it later, when I can see how those loops will affect the deform
