Yeah that's definitely a fallback, I'm just personally not a fan of the "first person view model vaguely wiggles the off-hand and that's the mantle animation" for a game like this.

Yeah more or less. The player camera is only allowed to inherit ~20% of the rig's rotation and isn't allowed to roll at all, and that % would probably be multiplied by the comfort settings for camera movement

I'm gonna give the Jerries a fighting chance but Lord help me I've never handled a Luger P08 and I'm just scratching my head watching the action work in slow motion and looking at parts online

(I could just make these models less detailed but where's the fun in that)

I mostly just find good reference photos and do a lot of photobashing - cutting, pasting, perspective correction, etc., then stamping and painting to fill in the gaps, then color/value correction on the final product

Good question! I usually don't go nuts with loops at deform spots (knees shoulders etc) until I get to weight painting! Its easy enough to loop cut and adjust without messing up the UVs so I usually do it later, when I can see how those loops will affect the deform
