Science has lost a GIANT and the world has lost one of the kindest most inspiring people I had the pleasure of knowing. Just an extraordinary man whose curiosity was infectious and whose dry wit will always be memorable- RIP John

This is such a wonderful perspective from the amazing @fendtlab.bsky.social - in so many ways it was an incredible experience for both myself and @thedawsonlab.bsky.social to have Sarah share her time & brilliant intellect with us - I will always be grateful for the opportunity to host her 🙏🏿
Australia completely lacks a dedicated training program for clinician scientists. With the vision and support of VMIAL
@petermaccc.bsky.social is extremely proud to announce the first clinician-scientist fellowship. If you meet the eligibility criteria PLEASE APPLY!

It was a huge pleasure having with us on sabbatical!
😁

Hope you are surviving the madness 🤞🏾
This is the one for you mate !!!
It would be awesome to have you at our institute!!

We are looking for a talented postdoctoral bioinformatician @thedawsonlab.bsky.social to work with us on single cell multiomics incorporating lineage tracing and spatial technologies- we specifically want someone curious, fearless with a licence to innovate!! Come join us!!
A huge pleasure to host Safia Danovi from @naturegenet.bsky.social @petermaccc.bsky.social - great advice for the students, postdocs & faculty
Four or five people of unknown experience or expertise review it blindly provide a score (out of 7) - that is averaged and provided to the candidate - no discussion takes place - no normalisation of scores takes place - it’s a lottery! Good luck if that is the future in the USA
We have not done grant review panels in Australia for the major grant funding body (NHMRC) since 2020
Where have I heard this before? 🤔 “Let’s cancel grant review panels as they don’t facilitate accountable peer review or education of the next generation” - Ah Yes! that’s the SHAMBOLIC MESS we have where submitting a grant is like buying a lottery ticket! If Trump says it’s a good idea it must be 🤦🏽
Awesome day at the tennis with @sj-dawson.bsky.social - Melbourne at its summer best!
Thanks Lluis
Thank you Chris
Thank you Rob
Thanks Dan
Thanks Yogesh - we were taken on a fascinating journey with this work
Good question Jordan - we did not look at specific TFs but I suspect this response is most pronounced with global inhibition of transcription
Thanks Anna
A huge congratulations to @fendtlab.bsky.social on this amazing body of work!
Thanks to all our collaborators especially the labs of Vi Wickramasinghe & Jeff Chao who co-led the work - very grateful to everyone in @thedawsonlab.bsky.social & @petermaccc.bsky.social for supporting the team
Why can a human tolerate a drug that globally inhibits transcription? Why do transcription inhibitors not cure cancer? Our first paper of 2025 may help explain (some) of this!
So incredibly proud of @tobiaswilliams.bsky.social & Ewa Michalak who led the work!

I love a bit of "whilst" - sets up an sentence laced with intrigue 😁
Thanks KJ
Thanks Rob
Thrilled to share a wonderful collaboration with Scott Armstrong, Florian Perner & Shellaina Gordon - exciting times ahead!
