Timely news as it's St Manchan's Day tomorrow!
Lemanaghan was founded by Manchan in the 7th century. It's a highly significant early monastery. Well worth a visit if you're in the midlands.
Iโll be reviving my irrepressible double act with Katherine Hindley for London International Palaeography Summer School 2026. We provide an introduction to manuscript studies ideal for anyone starting graduate study. Itโs a lot of fun. #MedievalSky ๐

Back to the Lindisfarne Gospels facsimile volumes. I wonder if there is any chance at all of a reprint of the commentary volume. It contains an absolute treasure trove of detailed paleographical observation by Julian Brown, not least a letter-by-letter description of the main script, ๐งต #medievalsky
15.01.2026 14:27 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0But completely agree with your observations about re-printing Brown's commentary. I am lucky to have a copy of his facsimile of the Vatican Paulinus, and his commentary on those scribes has been absolutely foundational for me.

A list of the registration fees for the Medieval Academy meeting in Massachusetts in March 2026. The early-bird registration price for MAA members is $140, less than have the announced "regular" fee of $305.
Wow, this is an amazing deal: more than 50% off the registration price for the @medievalacademy.bsky.social meeting sponsored by the Five College Consortium in Massachusetts in March. maa2026.wordpress.amherst.edu. And if you're a K-12 educator, registration is only $25! #MedievalSky
