Like you could argue that people has been assholes since forever yes but the rise of individualism post modernisation along with the increase in tech use and how it drastically changes how people communicate is what makes it scary for me. And it’s the nature of my job :/ that’s what’s scary for me
And how detrimental it is (in general) just bc there’s a feedback loop b/w audience and making art. Also on your point of intellectual erosion, if it was my wording on education, I was thinking more in terms of works that are empathetic bc if anything there is a clear sign of that being chipped away
But I’m more lamenting the fact that we get compromises in pieces that creators want to make bc unfortunately they have mouths to feed. Even more so now, bc as you said the internet -> ease of access + instant gratification. I cannot emphasise more on how people want it handed to them on a platter
Well yes it’s such a sweeping statement that it should not be taken at value it was more of a general sentiment. People who want to create will never stop creating + I think it’s inherently human to do so. And yes lots of art that withstood time were born out of difficult times/circumstances
Lots of things to think about.The self insertion into the media you consume, the impact of current gen literature being audience catered instead of stories you want to tell. Rise of people being increasingly self centred. When you start selling instead of educating. We don’t get good books anymore
