Catherine will present some preliminary EMPSOLID findings this week at CBSE Cambridge. Rather than presenting traditional papers, our panel decided to make a film! 🎬 Here is the trailer, made in collaboration with Maarja Merivoo-Parro (Uni of Jyväskylä) & Sanita Reinsone (University of Latvia)!

It was also exciting to visit the stage in Vērmanes park where, on the same site, a charity concert for victims of the 1902 Shamakhi earthquake (present-day Azerbaijan) took place.

📜✨ Lately, we've been delving into the Latvian State Historical Archives' collections! These 19th-century petitions reveal how news travelled across the Romanov Empire, why people helped others, and how they gathered donations.
