09.10.2025 21:37 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Humans, looking up into the vast emptiness of space, a frigid cold that is the antithesis of life, the very embodiment of nothing and the inspiration behind emptiness itself. Separated by light years from anything of actual value.
"I bet there's some cool friends up there."
Humans are space Druids
This is definitely the best drawn design out of all of them, with the best anatomy out of them and enough going on with his character. The pose though is horrid.
His hand was initially supposed to be a half hearted salute, instead I made him look really flamboyant haha
A pencil sketch of a man with a long face named Redmond, he dresses a a police chief, stood tall with a frown and sunglasses. His left hand pulled up in a half hearted salute he never bothered to learn. Text near Chief Redmond describes him as "Sadistic, Gets missions done, Intimidating, Inhumane, Ginger? Sunglasses, Emotionless." A quote from him reads as "I'm not here to keep peace or order. I'm not here to protect civilians. I'm here to make you all wish I'd kill you, and I love it."
Chief Redmond, the antagonist of Act 4 and the final character Im willing to showcase at this time.
A sadistic monster, one of the most threatening capable things youll meet. They never slow down. They are the best of the best, and they're after you.
Where will his battle with Black take everyone?
Gear was very straightforwards with her design, not much ever changed there. Yet Blindside was going to look a LOT different. In fact, Longshot from ATLA was a heavy inspiration early in the design process, Im sure that's fairly apparent once you realize the similarities in the modern day.
06.10.2025 18:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A pencil sketch of two people stood beside each other. A 22 year old man on the left with a solemn expression and an eye-patch, stiffly leaning on a large Rifle wearing military gear. A 32 year old woman on the right with a confidant look, hand on the back of her neck looking off to the right. She wears baggy mechanic clothes and a tool belt. Text describing the man on the left named "Blindside" reads... "Quiet, Assassin, PTSD, Ground down, One eye, Always pained, Apprehensive." Text describing the woman on the right named "Gear" reads... "Speaks in weird lingo, Mechanic, Down to get dirty, Scottish? Wrench in ear, Sometimes puts hair back when working." A quote from Blindside reads "..." A quote from Gear reads "Got some good ideas, but you should put a Cooly Booly in the Grabber to prevent Goombling."
Blindside and Gear, two resistance members in the 4th act of the story, rescuing Black and his friends after escaping the Island. Not much about Blindside is known.
Gear is loud, bombastic, and speaks gibberish she made up while self-learning machinery.
Where will the two's help take everyone?
Looking at code from the proof of concept rn.
What was wrong with me?
Skipped showcasing some important characters from act 2, I want to touch them up a little.
This is where the drawings started getting good.
I promise pirates make sense, I promise I promise I promise.
Oh also I started developing again now that story is thought up and gameplay is hashed out.
A pencil sketch of two pirates doing battle, one, a larger hairy man with a wilder stance made for more force and less personal safety, and another slimmer Mexican man wearing a Durag with a stable stance, with more dexterity and stability, keeping their sword forwards for more safety. The larger pirate is named darkskull, text on the image describing him as "Messy, Hairy, Gross, Untaken care of, Lives to die, Very unkempt hair, Crazy eyes, Bad teeth." The slimmer pirate is named Walleye, text on the image describing him as "Timid, Brave, Insecure, Strong morale compass, Mexican, Chef, Clean, Durag." A quote from Darkskull reads "The stars will taste our salt!" A quote from Walleye reads "I can't take away the past, but I can make the present an alright place to wallow in."
Walleye and Darkskull. Walleye is the young cook for the pirates with a strong morale compass, wanting an out but never being provided the tools to make one. Darkskull is the captain, a psychotic who loves to fight and kill in demented ways.
Where will their duality with each other take Black?
Steel was originally of one off importance, but he really grew on me. This is the only time I'll reveal a characters fate before the game releases, but he was supposed to stop appearing after the 2nd act. I decided to keep him around for the rest of the story though, and it was a good choice!
04.10.2025 17:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A pencil sketch of a young black man with buzzed hair standing firmly, holding his fist outwards in front of him in a steady stance, the other arm crossed behind his back. His description reads as follows "Black, Black T Shirt, Leather Straps, Cargo Pants, Sneakers/Cleats, Unworn Bandana" "Wants to be cool, Seeking leadership, Confused young man, Tough as hell" Below him lies a closer view of his square face, with a description of "Chiseled face, Buzz cut, Trying a little too hard, Bulldog nose" A quote from him reads "I used to think it was cool to take what I want, but when I heard about you, I realized it was cooler to give what I have. I'm with you no matter what Decay says."
Steel, a young man who joined the raiders as a kid under pretenses that they were cool. He's silently desperate to fit in, and be seen. His worldview changes when he hears word of Black's accomplishments, in that moment he knows who to really follow.
Where will his journey with black take everyone?
Irredeemably bad characters are really hard for me to write, they go against a lot of what I believe in.
Decay was a pretty easy one to design all things considered.
You can also tell I didn't have a good grasp of perspective yet, and some parts of the anatomy like elbows, which I've now improved.
Decay, a secondary "antagonist" in the first act. Leader of the raiders. He may not actively threaten or attack you, but he won't exactly stop others from doing so. A narcissist who needs everyone to idolize him, and just generally is a huge scumbag.
Where will his deals with Black take them?
Much like Mud's outward personality, designing him was a bit boring, and purely practical. You can't really do any special pose with a stiff character, so it kind of just hurts the drawing.
That being said, his place in the story is one of my favorites, and nothing would work without him.
A pencil sketch of a stiffly stood young man with gloves, a sweatshirt, jeans. boots. and a bandana covering his face named Mud. Beside him is a closer view of his face, with text stating he has white hair, a bandana, and goggles that block out his eyes. Text describing his personality describes him as, "Socially inept, Incredibly smart, Stiff and robotic, Logical, and Determined." Beside that is a quote from him, stating "You're logical Black, think for a second."
Mud, the first antagonist Black will face off against. He's amassed enough resources to become a solo political power. He keeps to himself in a cave, but with rampant attacks spreading through the depths from robots, all fingers point only to him.
Where will his fight with Black take everyone?
Will be posting a new character design every day, some of the later ones I'm very excited to show off.
01.10.2025 23:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Sierra, Marina, and the upcoming reveal are my three favorite characters I've made for the story. I was super proud when I finished designing Sierra here, but looking at this compared to the newer designs, lets just say I got a lot better.
She's had one of the most consistent designs so far.
A character sheet displaying a very messy girl with dirty relaxed clothes that don't quiet fit, and pointy frazzled hair extruding outwards and downwards. Words to the right describes her clothes and appearance, reading... "White dirty tee, Gray dirty sweatpants, Gray + Red sneakers, Clothes that don't fit" "Has strange interests, Insomniac, Emotionally intelligent, Drifter, Friendly, Playful" "Pink hair, Baggy eyes, Naturally "sad" eyebrows, Messy". Nearby her is a quote from her, reading "The past was good, but we can't forget the present can be just as bright".
Sierra, a drifter from the depths with some strange interests. She lives in the moment, and cherishes the relationships she's made along the way. Sierra may be an odd person, but she's a good, happy person, a rarity in someone from her world.
Where will her journey with Black take everyone?
Do yall ever realize how the solar eclipses we see on earth are one of the rarest things in the universe? A near perfect blockade of the sun, and it happens to us, often.
Earth really is just the best planet of all time.
"Oh I know! I'll make the main character learn to not do everything himself, and rely on others for a first character arc!"
"..."
"Hey wait a minute. That sounds familiar..."
"Anyway, time to do everything myself and not rely on others!"
Why do I do this hahaha
She's gone through the most character design changes so far, Originally I was actually envisioning something a lot flashier at first.
Being able to look at the drawing closer up like this I can notice a lot of issues, like her right eye on the full body. Maybe I'll play with digital touch ups.
Drawn pencil sketch on the left side of the image, of a tough looking girl wearing a fishing vest, plaid shirt, jeans and boots, her name "Marina" to the left of her head. To the right of her is text describing her outfit, and personality, reading... "Fishing vest, Jeans, Boots, Plaid Shirt, Fighter, Emotionally walled, Fisherwoman, Good B.S Radar, Kind but not nice, R.B.F (Resting bitch face). To the right of that text is a close up of her face with spiked hair, an angry expression, a cheek scar and a fishing hook for an earing. To the right of that text is text describing what her face looks like, saying "Fishing Hook earing, Teal hair with white highlight, cheek scar".
Marina, a main character of my game I've grown incredibly fond of. Shes a rough and tough Angler trying to find something meaty to eat in a dead sea. Ask her for help and if she likes you, she will, but will absolutely make fun of you the entire time

In one way its a huge compliment, people get so immersed in Toby's worlds that they forget they're just games.

Maybe you're just not going to be a silksong enjoyer and maybe you have to be okay with that, but that's not silksong's fault.
They have a meter that fills through the battle, allowing them to do something depending on the overclock meter
Transform will change their stats and moveset
Ultimate sends one super-powerful move.
Strain drains HP for more stats
Temper lets you spend less overclock for moderately powerful moves.
