it's so cool to see how rapidly LED tech took over the lightbulb industry, a mere 14 years ago we were still pitching CFLs as the end-all solution and every household we worked with had to be given a lengthy texture on how to avoid lightbulb mercury poisoning

perfect crossroads of "only so many logical conclusions you can take a setting that both involves rock-based lifeforms and also highly advanced space aliens" and "extremely funny that it happened twice, independently", convergent evolution at its finest we love a little carcinization in this house

and the weirdly specific circumstance of "negotiating a truce with the technologically & magically advanced aliens largely to revive hundreds of their fallen gem comrades, which they succeed in doing by the story's end (albeit with some physical differences)" that part was the kicker for me I think

I think that's my experience too actually! except most of the time I'm in a pickle my brain doesn't acknowledge it as a dream and I would just activate the superpower that I've definitely always had

I don't have any artisanal chocolate covered cashews in my house but if I eat a piece of chocolate and a cashew at the same time it will taste exactly the same, this is wisdom that I am passing to you
