Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Many food banks also accept & distribute cat and dog food.
Many rescues & shelters also have food pantries.
(This is also important, because many people will cut back on quality & volume of food they eat. In order to keep their pets safe at home.) ❤️

It is important to note that food banks usually prefer money donations over food donations. They need the money more, and know how to best use it to benefit those who need it, including obtaining food their own way. There are many reasons why money is best. Google around for explanations

If you're in a good position and want to donate to your local food bank or volunteer time, this is also a great way to look up your closest org to show up to.

I can't overstate how many people are going to be struggling in the next few weeks, we need to take care of each other.
