Scavenger is very much my special little guy along with Soundwave for many reasons, and this is just one of them

Because he can always see the worth in something or someone else but he can never extend it to himself, and there is a desperate need to be of use
He isn't a good decepticon, but he is good at digging and he likes digging so it is the thing he does-

It's the kind of pathetic this you sympathize with, that naivety mixed with desperation to prove yourself to be worth something
And you kind of realize that he extended the sympathy that wasn't afforded to him by seeing it in every little thing he find-

I was going through the g1 bio again for fun, and in Scavenger's, one of the first things you see is his line, which is
"Everything is worth something, even me,"
And that hit me like a truck because I kind relate to it
It was surprisingly cute yet also sadly pathetic-
