Hi hi!! I have an important announcement regarding this server, Discord's new ID implementations, and what the plans are moving forward. I'm sure you have all heard about Discord requiring ID's or face scans in March to access age-restricted channels, stages, and settings (not general access to Discord chats and channels), and I think we all can agree this is overstepping given our current political climate within the U.S. and other countries with the rise of fascism, especially since they just had a data breach resulting in the leaks of 70,000 IDs as well. As an 18+ creator who posts NSFW content in here, it does concern me and it's not lost upon me that age-restricted channels may prompt some people to verify in here if discord didn't flag your account as an adult. I wanna make it abundantly clear l am not encouraging y'all to comply that just to get access to that. As it stands right now, we do not have any plans to act or make any changes to the server, or my status within the platform.

Time will tell depending on what happens, and if the community is impacted heavily, we will figure something out. AE Staff and I will be on standby and taking a "wait-and-see" approach before we make any large decisions, so keep a listening ear out. Now, here's what we, yes WE can do as a community in the meantime. This isn't just a Discord issue, this is a government and legislation issue in multiple countries, including the US, that will impact our ability to have privacy in these times, which is more important now than ever with these old heads wanting to weaken end-to-end encryption and deanonymize the internet when it can offer resources, community, safety, and connection to marginalized groups such as LGBTQ and BIPOC. I have linked several resources in #serious-discussions on how to contact discord by support tickets, mail, and phone, templates on what to say, and pointers on where to go to voice your concerns to your government officials and representatives in multiple regions aside from the U.S. since the push for IDs is happening all over; there are multiple petitions out there as linked down below.
