It's fair to say that not everyone was convinced by our identification. But now we have a much more complete skeleton, excavated by our UK-Moroccan-US team. Not only does Spicomellus have spikes fused to its dorsal ribs, it has metre-long spikes extending from a cervical half ring

Have you seen the Band of Brothers episode of Walking With Dinosaurs yet? Last year it was an absolute pleasure to dig at the site with our University of Birmingham undergraduates - thanks so much to @jlivelypaleo.bsky.social & @prehistoricmuseum.bsky.social for an amazing experience!

So glad to be able to share my opinions on the new series of Walking with Dinosaurs with BBC’s Points of View. Great opportunity to talk about the show and its significance to the public.

Exam period forces me to finally tackle palaeontology’s biggest question: What’s the relationship of the random items in room G26?
Think this is definitely a future publication πŸ˜‚. Still no closer to understanding the field of phylogenetics!

This bizarre new dinosaur has something in common with modern sloths Like T. rex and some modern sloths, this strange 90 million year old dinosaur had two fingers on each hand.

New therizinosaur fossils are always exciting. But this one is particularly weird/cool having only two fingers!

Nothing like a spontaneous midweek trip to London to listen to @tweetisaurus.bsky.social’s amazing talk on stegosaurs. Great way to celebrate handing in a dissertation πŸ₯³

Got a sneaky peek at these results last month. Might be the best matching of academics and Sci-Fi I could imagine!

Super happy to finally be able to share this! These are some photos from the UK’s biggest dinosaur trackway which was uncovered in Oxford over the summer. It was an amazing experience getting to help excavate and photograph these tracks. Thanks to all the staff involved.
