Anyway, it's good to lie to young writers that there is an industry here. Get them used to imagining writing as a career so that by the time they're 38 and writing medical copy for a hospital foundation, they can feel like they've made it.

Every time I see early career fellowships for writers I wonder what will be left of the industry for them? There is a reason that for every mid or late career fellowship ther ranges infinite to 10 early career fellowships. These are dead ends.
