Update โ December 2: Today, the occupation targeted several areas across Gaza, including the Al Tuffah neighborhood. This is a developing story, and the numbers of those killed and injured are expected to be updated shortly. Since the so-called ceasefire began on Octoberโฏ10, at least 360 Palestinians have been killed, with many more injured. The occupation continues to violate the ceasefire, restricting the number of trucks allowed to enter Gaza with food, water, and medical aid, and blocking machinery needed for rebuilding. 02.12.2025 18:53 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1"The White House has confirmed that a second, follow-up U.S. military strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean was authorized by Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense. The strike in September has sparked bipartisan scrutiny and concerns in Congress regarding its legality. A total of 11 people were killed in the two strikes in early September, the first in a months-long military campaign that has so far left more than 80 dead. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Monday that Secretary Hegseth "authorized Admiral [Frank] Bradley to conduct these kinetic strikes" and that the admiral "worked well within his authority and the law" in directing the second engagement. A report by The Washington Post alleged that after an initial U.S. strike on September 2, two survivors were left clinging to the boat's wreckage, and a second strike was ordered to kill them to comply with an order from Hegseth to "kill everybody". The White House confirmed a second strike occurred but rejected the report that Hegseth gave a specific verbal order to kill survivors. They maintained that the strikes were lawful, part of a campaign against "narco-terrorist" groups, and intended to eliminate a threat to the U.S.. Hegseth called the initial reporting "fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory" and publicly supported Admiral Bradley's "combat decisions". Lawmakers from both parties have voiced concerns, with some suggesting the killing of defenseless survivors could be considered a war crime. The chairmen of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees have announced they will conduct investigations and expect to obtain all audio and video related to the strikes. President Trump said he "wouldn't have wanted" a second strike if there were survivors but expressed confidence that Hegseth had not issued such an order, creating a discrepancy with the White House's official confirmation." โโโ Image thanks to Gulf News
