A certain amount is just wind blowing snow around like you said. The challenge is to find a place that minimizes that effect. I have found a sheltered spot that works pretty good most of the time but there is no guarantee that it will always work.

I was only 37 years old in the winter of 2001 and I didn’t own a snowblower. We did everything the old fashioned way with a shovel back then.
