Yep. I remember "the war" being talked about so much in the 1970s that, as a very young kid, I wasn't 100% sure whether it was still actually ongoing.

Ha! My other half's dad is coming up 87 and is the only person I still know with proper memories of WW2. He was evacuated to Lincolnshire.

Oh, this feels awful. The Stone Roses were a massive part of my teens, those delicious years of expanding horizons and gentle freedoms. I got the first album for Christmas when I was 18, and it became the soundtrack to all of the above. I'm so, so sad to hear this.

I love writing about old telly for @shindigmagazine.bsky.social, and the new issue has my feature about 'Object Z', the obscure but ripping 1965 sci-fi serial now released on Blu-ray by the BFI. A pre-Grace Brothers Trevor Bannister going all square-jawed and heroic.
