'Patchwuff' in the current @radiotimes.bsky.social! And a fascinating chat with the wonderful Sandra Kerr. We're absolutely thrilled with this, and are very grateful to @braxtm.bsky.social for writing such a lovely feature.

I couldn't stand grunge at the time, I liked pop music and jangly indie. But I've mellowed. I listened to Nirvana's 'Bleach' a little while ago and it sounded great.

After spending a decent chunk of 1991 living in student Halls of Residence, I don't ever need to hear Smells Like Teen Spirit again. Ever.

Of course you want to see John Laurie as William McGonagall reading 'The Railway Bridge of the Silvery Tay'.

It took every ounce of willpower the great man had not to exclaim "doomed!"

Thank me later.

Yep. It was either Ack Mag or a Friday night in the Endeavour.

The first time I heard Pencil Full Of Lead was on the Ken Bruce show, and over the opening bars he said "Oh, are we getting the Muppets?"

Brilliant. Was The Watcher the character from Doctor Who, in a series of madcap adventures?

Wow - do any of them still exist?

The front cover of a home-made comic alled "Ack Mag", drawn when I was nine years old in October 1982. It shows Pac-man being pursued by four ghosts and promises "Pac Man Poster Inside"...

Ack Mag Issue 1, from October 1982. "Your Monthly Acklam Comedy Mag" for anybody living within twenty yards of my Gran's house.

There was no Issue 2. And only three pages of Issue 1. But yes, one of them is the Pac-Man comic strip...

Rejection letter sent to David Bowie's management by Peter Asher at Apple in 1968. Currently on show at the V&A East Storehouse.
"As we told you on the phone, Apple Records is not interested in signing David Bowie. The reason is that we don't feel he is what we're looking for at the moment."

If you haven’t had the joy of hearing Patchwuff, go and listen now. It’s not long, and it will make your face wet in the loveliest way.

Yeah, he was very unwell for a long time and it was awful to see. I hadn't seen him for a couple of decades, but he used to come on my old radio show to talk about his band Mavis, and he was always good fun.

Thanks - that's a nice tribute. And sad to say James McMahon, who wrote that obit, has also since died - I knew him a bit from the North-east music scene, far too many years ago to be true. God, I'm ancient.

That's sad news - I didn't know that either. Had a real soft spot for Silver Sun in the 1990s. I think their guitarist Richard Buckton was from Teesside... and was (possibly) the son of David Buckton, a lovely chap that I knew from Boro Supporters Club. They were definitely related.

The new @radiotimes.bsky.social has a lovely feature on our latest @mulgraveaudio.bsky.social audio play 'Patchwuff' - narrated by Valerie Singleton, with music by Sandra Kerr. Extended version on the RT website, too... here! Huge thanks to @braxtm.bsky.social

I woke up like a zombie, but I am now dancing down the stairs singing "One Singular Sensation" with jazz hands.

Had a dream last night where a malevolent spectral presence was crouching right next to me at the side of the bed and singing in a soft voice: "If you had accepted me / Life would stay the same / Now you have rejected me / I will sing your name". Not a great night's sleep.

Thank you Bob Fischer, Push, Will Simpson all at Electronic Sound for the interview & review. When I started this could never have dreamed I would be interviewed twice for this incredible magazine. Very much appreciated.

Him nearly getting killed while swimming on holiday was a new one on me. And all the early 70s footage from the house and makeshift studio in Scotland... just gorgeous.

Seen it! Good stuff, with loads of footage I've never seen before.
