COMING SOON! Kate Astbury: 'Napoleon, theatre and the Hundred Days', FAB6.02, 17.00, 15.10.25
"Napoleon’s return to power is an anomaly in theatre history. Scholars stop in 1814 or skip the Hundred Days. But it's a unique space to see the interplay of art and politics in Napoleonic theatre..."

On running away from bears Some of you may know that Elisabeth and I enjoy running in our spare time. It helps us switch off from the challenges of being co-heads of SMLC. So far, Elisabeth has beaten me, but I’m slowly closing the gap and that time will come! We got the new academic year off to a running start by taking part in the Stratford 10k on Sunday 14 September.

Allez les Blacks, Blancs, Beurs! Writing a Dissertation on French Multiracial Football Stardom By Ethan Gardiner As a final year French Studies student, I opted to write a dissertation, driven by the chance to write about a topic of my own selection - a topic I had spent years considering ever since the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Though 10,000 words can seem like a daunting target, the freedom in choosing what to write about made the process more enjoyable.

The town is best known as a university town with a big reputation in technology and industry. The Freidrich-Alexander-Universität makes Erlangen a student town as well as an attractive place to work due to it being the headquarters of Siemens.

Life in Bordeaux and what it’s like to study Russian at Université Bordeaux Montaigne By Polly McManus, 3rd Year Modern Languages (French and Russian) Sunset in central Bordeaux Bordeaux is often referred to as ‘Little Paris’ – and once you see the city centre and its stunning architecture it’s not hard to understand why! But one of my favourite things about Bordeaux is that it’s not too big, yet there’s still plenty to do. One thing me and my friends have particularly enjoyed is the sport – whether it be rugby, ice hockey or football, student prices are so cheap and the atmosphere is amazing!

Chinese New Year 2025 By Stephanie Welch Singing Chinese songs This year, we celebrated Chinese New Year at Warwick University with a vibrant and heartwarming event that brought the campus community together. The celebration featured a variety of presentations, including singing, acting, and speeches, showcasing the talents and enthusiasm of students across all Chinese-speaking levels. As Chinese beginners it was an invaluable opportunity to put our language skill to use, especially as our class had the challenge of performing a short version of ‘Snow White’ in mandarin.
