I may quote you in an article I'm writing for Relato! My DMs are open too βΊοΈ
21.01.2025 15:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β’ How do you convince in-house or agency stakeholders to make this shift?
β’ Do you have a process for evaluating requests and prioritizing content?
β’ How do you know if your approach is working? How do you measure impact?
You need to shift away from treating content like a service and start thinking of content as a strategic program that drives real business impact.
Have you been through this transition? Are you navigating it now? I'd love to know:
Content managers, let's talk about the breaking point.
You know the one:
You're stuck in service mode and feeling totally overwhelmed. Your team is drowning in ad-hoc requests, everyone needs their content ASAP, and strategic initiatives are constantly pushed back.
My morning looked similar. Thanks for reminding me to take a moment to appreciate it π Happy new year!!

How about you? What worked surprisingly well for you this year? And what's your top priority for the new year?
So while this year was full of ups and downs, I'm focusing on the positives.
Because all this trial + error let me expand beyond long-form content into services like content strategy, copywriting, editing, and content operations.
Did everything work out perfectly? No way. I also had my fair share of:
βοΈ Discovery calls that went absolutely nowhere
βοΈ Clients that ended up taking content in house
βοΈ Projects that were booked but never happened
π§ͺ Worked with 24 clients, making for my largest client roster ever
π§ͺ Partnered with 8 agencies, giving me access to more diverse projects
π§ͺ Booked 45 networking calls, connecting me with more content folks
π§ͺ Completed 9 paid courses, helping me upskill + grow my business
After 10 years as a freelance writer, you'd think I would have solopreneurship figured out π
But for me, 2024 was a year of experimentation.
This past year, I:
I'd love to add to this list. Have any recommendations to share?
What are the best B2B content writing/editing/strategy courses you've taken or B2B content marketing communities you've joined this year?
A favorite thing about working for myself is setting my own learning + development budget. Some of the best investments I've made this year:
- Tommy Walker's content theory course
- Erica Schneider + Rob Lennon's editing course
- Tyler Hakes' content strategy course
- Superpath pro membership
