30.07.2025 16:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The House Education and Workforce Committee has been charged with finding $330 billion--billion!--from education budgets to pay for tax cuts. What is this insanity?
13.02.2025 18:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you to the presidents and other campus leaders for joining AICCU in DC. This is a critical time to reinforce that higher ed is #worthit and student access must be protected to support our future, our economy, our economy.
07.02.2025 02:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0WASC Senior announced Maria Toyoda as the new president and CEO. She has a seriously impressive and diverse background and is also an alumna of an AICCU member institution, Stanford University.
22.01.2025 17:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Update regarding National Student Clearinghouse recent report. A mistake was found in their methodology and the 5% decline in freshman enrollment was overstated. NSC will issue an update next week. Check out this article from @insidehighered.com
15.01.2025 00:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Biden's Title IX rule is effectively done. It's been implemented hodgepodge across the states (and even within states) but now it's been vacated across the country. Institutions are to go back to the 2020 Trump-era rules.
10.01.2025 16:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0White and Latino groups also saw decreases (5% and 7.9%, respectively) as well.
Much of the reason is attributed to the failed FAFSA rollout.
Research by NSC Research Center showed that enrollment of freshmen declined by 5%, wiping gains from last year. Most disconcertingly, high-Pell private institutions saw a 10% drop and Black and Asian students saw 16.9% and 10.3% drop, respectively. Check out the report at the link below.
04.12.2024 00:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Legislation is often written broadly or ambiguously on purpose, as it can't capture every instance or situation. Regulations fleshes out the statute, written by technical experts. Loper Bright entirely shifts this toward judges and threatens to upend thousands of previous court decisions.
03.12.2024 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a student of public administration, I see this as a dramatic shift in power and dynamics and entirely upends the ability of public agencies to write regulations. Have agencies gone too far in some (many?) instances? Sure. But this takes a hammer to a problem that requires a more nuanced approach.
03.12.2024 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you to Natasha Baker (Novus Law Firm), Jon Fansmith (ACE) & Lauren Schoenthaler (University of the Pacific) for being part of a webinar to discuss the implications of the recent striking by SCOTUS of the Chevron deference precedent on higher education.
03.12.2024 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Some good news, finally, from the FAFSA front.

22.11.2024 19:38 β π 18 π 8 π¬ 2 π 2CD45 and California broadly are home to the largest Viet population outside of Vietnam but never had a VietAm representative in DC. If Tran wins, this would be a historical moment for this community.
22.11.2024 18:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Derek Tran continues to build on his lead over Michelle Steel in CD45, over by nearly 500 votes now. This would be an important flip for Dems in the House and Tran would be the first person of VietAm descent to be part of CA's Congressional Delegation.
