The University of Houston is hosting the ADA Nationals tournament this weekend! We have 87 teams competing from universities across the nation including 5 teams from UH!

The University of Houston is hosting the ADA Nationals tournament this weekend! We have 87 teams competing from universities across the nation including 5 teams from UH!

Our final records were:
KY: 7-1 (Second overall)
DF: 6-2 (Third overall)
AS: 5-3 (Tenth overall)
We also took home the 4th, 5th 8th, 9th, and 15th place speaker awards! Go Coogs!
We made it through all eight rounds of Districts!
We finished with two teams, KY and DF earning a spot at the National Debate Tournament! Only two teams per school can qualify through districts, but here's hoping AS can get a Second Round Bid to the NDT!
Day two has passed with four rounds and (at least) two more to look forward to tomorrow!

This weekend the Cougars are competing at the annual D3 District Tournament! This is a competition against some of the best teams in our region for a spot at the National Debate Tournament.

We are so lucky to have such great novice debaters this year and are excited to keep bringing in trophies!
In a tournament with over 100 teams in Varsity alone, we are so proud to have two teams making it to day 3!
Varsity team AS lost against Kansas MR (Who went on to win the tournament!)
Novice team AB lost finals on a 2-1, taking home silver.

The Coogs have been busy after an eventful tournament, but have plenty to show for it!
Day 2 saw Varsity team AS and Novice teams EL and AB clearing to elimination rounds!
EL lost in quarters on a tough 2-1 while AB got a bye to semis where they won a spot in finals!
After day 1 we are feeling good 4 rounds in with plenty of wins to show for it!

This weekend the Cougars are at the University of Texas at Austin for the annual Texas Open! With over 100 entries from 46 colleges and universities we are excited for an exhilarating weekend of debate!

First they took on Trinity in Quarters winning 3-0
Then Binghamton in Semis winning 2-1
And finally Baylor in Finals taking home gold on a 2-1 panel!
Nine Abad was also the Varsity ninth place speaker!

Starting with Semis, DF downed to Trinity while KY walked over SA to finals.
AND KY AVENGED DF BY BEATING TRINITY AND WINNING THE TOURNAMENT !!
We've had an amazing showing these past two tournaments. GO COOGS!!!

We've kept the momentum going as Coogs keep winning on day two!
In Open, teams KY and DF both went 6-0! SA finished just behind them at an incredible 5-1! Each team also won their quarters round!
In Novice, EK went 3-3 and downed in the finals round, while AB went 1-5.
After day ONE of tournament TWO our teams already have THREE wins!

Snow is coming down in Kansas, and the second half of the Sunflower Swings has been moved online amid unsafe weather. Thankfully, we will still be able to compete tomorrow from the safety of the hotel! Let's keep up the momentum and get some wins!

Open:
DF made it to quarterfinals before downing on a 3-0
KY walked over SA after an unlucky bracket pairing, but made it to finals! They lost a hard round on a 2-1
Novice breakout:
CK, at their first tournament together, won the novice division on a 3-0!
