I have read dozens of books like these to my own children: stories that help them process new emotions, and show them how to demonstrate love and respect for others, and perhaps teach them the letters of the alphabet in a format that doesn’t require me to play the fucking song on my phone for the billionth time. Nearly all of the characters in these books are straight and cisgender. Objections to storybooks that instead portray gay or transgender people in the course of imparting the same valuable life lessons are not, as Becket lawyers argue, objections to classroom instruction on “gender and sexuality.” They are rejections of the idea that anyone has a responsibility to treat gay and transgender people with dignity and respect.

An extremely expensive and stressful day at the emergency vet! The dogs went full white lotus and ate a bunch of toxic fruit that fell into our yard. They are still so, so sick but appear to be doing better. Grateful to the vet and staff who took such good care of them and saved their lives.

I don't really have anything especially profound to say, but yeah man this is it. They won't obey even the most milquetoast SCOTUS orders and are talking about sending US citizens to foreign gulags. It's happened here.

BREAKING: An immigration court determined our client Mahmoud Khalil to be removable from the U.S. based solely on his political speech.

The fight isn't over — we'll keep fighting for Mahmoud's freedom and all of our First Amendment rights in federal court.

The decision on Mahmoud Khalil today will reveal whether we live in a system where authorities can decide what speech is acceptable and condemn people on that basis.
