Basically, the Trump admin lied so much that PolitiFact changed 15yrs of reporting to just name the year “lies” stating they’re were just too many.

Jack Smith, p. 27: "There is no historical analog for what President Trump did in this case … [W]hat he was not free to do was violate Federal law and use knowing-- knowingly false statements about election fraud to target a lawful government function. That he was not allowed to do."

SMITH says he had evidence that Trump directly ordered alleged co-conspirators to call senators on the evening of Jan. 6 to try to continue delaying the vote ceritification.

He also had evidence that Bannon said Trump was still "on fire" on evening of Jan. 6.

Question: But the president’s statements that he believed the election was rife with fraud—those are statements protected by the First Amendment, correct?

Smith: Absolutely not. If they are made to target a lawful government function and are made with knowing falsity, then no, they are not.

Smith: I think who should be accountable for this is Donald Trump. These records exist because, in the case of the senators, Donald Trump directed his co-conspirators to call these people to further delay the proceedings. He chose to do that.
