One of the points in my Great Depression lecture that always seems to surprise students is how radical the farmers got in their protests.
In 1932, the head of a farmers group warned the Senate that his furious members would bomb them from the air if they could just afford an airplane to do it.
It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation.
I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!
Jesus was flipping tables in the temple when injustice called for it.
"Civility above all else" is a siren call from those comfortable with the status quo.
We wrote a letter to @amyklobuchar.com.
We need her to start fighting for Minnesotans.
ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available?
It's literally called Library Extension.
Asparagus?
Broccoli?
Apples and nuts.
My German teacher in high school loved to talk about how the most dangerous thing was a half-educated man, and I thought he was being kind of arrogant, but now that I’ve grown up and seen the damage that dumb guys who think they’re smart guys can do, I gotta hand it to him
My 72-yr-old Mom died mid-Sept’24, and the agency pulled back her Sept payment after they learned she died. They don’t play around.
I posted a copy of the 3 minute version of my speech from yesterday (with citations) if anyone is interested. Feel free to steal from it if you want!

It's easy to give up and disengage right now - but Chris Kluwe isn't doing that.
Kluwe stood on business in Huntington Beach tonight for marginalized folks, and was arrested for his act of civil disobedience.

This is a quote from my book HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT that was made into a protest sign, seen below, by Indivisible St Louis in 2019.
It was the eyes and smile for me.

Here is a script you can use for any issue. Find your reps' # at reps.fyi or 5calls.org. Every time you see a news story that horrifies you: call, or something else about it. It matters to say what you believe. You are setting a norm.

Best explanation of this extremely familiar mode of thought that I have personally ever seen
I like calling my representatives’ offices after hours so I can go straight to voicemail.
I couldn’t leave a voicemail for Rep Ilhan Omar at her DC or MN numbers because the inboxes were full!
Sen. Tina Smith’s MN voicemail was open, but the DC one was full.
We should probably go to Broders together sometime soon.
Ooooh from where and would you recommend it? I love tiramisu.

I submitted my tax documents for my business to my tax accountant tonight. THIS IS A BIG THRILL.
