I guess this is the same impulse that leads people to mythologize past civilizations. But yesterday’s solutions really don’t solve tomorrow’s problems—not usually. And also yesterday’s solutions were often genocide, slavery, and war. Let’s think of something new.

Star Trek did so much to imagine a better future—a future that still has problems, but a future where people’s needs were understood to matter. I want more creative imaginings of a good future for humanity on screen. Fear retreats. Desire advances.
