Cory Booker has just broken Strom Thurmond's record for longest Senate filibuster ever, which stood for 68 years.
Thurmond set it objecting to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
Booker set it arguing against authoritarianism.
May Strom's name be forgotten and his memory erased.
Senator Booker broke Senator Thurmondβs record for the longest speech on the Senate floor. Thurmond used his time to stand in the way of progress. Booker is using his to stand for it. This is powerful. This is the America weβre fighting for. This is our moral moment & we must all answer the call.

Georgia Woman Arrested After Disposing of Miscarriage Police are treating the disposal of a fatal miscarriage as abandonment of a dead body Troy Matthews Mar 26
A woman in Tifton, Georgia was arrested this week after disposing of a miscarried fetus in a dumpster. Selena Maria Chandler-Scott, 24, was found unconscious and bleeding by EMS after miscarrying. Police later found the remnants of her fetus in a bag in a dumpster nearby, after a witness reported seeing her dispose of the bag. Chandler-Scott was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another person, and one count of throwing away or abandonment of a dead body. Tifton Police said in a press release the fetus died as a result of a miscarriage, not an abortion. She was transferred to Tift Regional Medical Center for treatment after being found, and was not immediately charged.
=MTN It's unclear what Chandler-Scott should have done to avoid charges in this case. Her arrest is another example of the rights of a fetus taking precedence over the rights of women in red states. Vagueness in the language of Republican abortion bans has led women to avoid going to the hospital for care of miscarriages. Any intervention to save the women's life could be interpreted as an illegal abortion, a crime which carries a sentence of up to ten years. Chandler-Scott's case is similar to Brittany Watts, a 34-year-old Ohio woman who was charged with abuse of a corpse after miscarrying into her toilet at her home. A grand jury later refused to indict Watts.
Even the police confirmed she had a miscarriage and not an abortion. Yet they still arrested her.
