I know a lot of people probably assumed my proudest achievement was being a best-selling author or something like that, but really, it was just finding the willpower to write books while all this was going on behind the scenes. 🫡🔥💯

These malfunctioning cells consistently send ‘false signals’ to your body, telling it that it’s having an allergic reaction even if you aren’t, you still get all the very real symptoms of an (often severe) allergic reaction, this can be lethal.

The lack of awareness around MCAS often causes people to get a delayed diagnosis and treatment. As of today, there is no cure.

This went on for years.

Until finally, I was given a treatment for MCAS, and essentially a second chance at life.

I still live with chronic pain, and sometimes life- threatening symptoms, I’ll likely never be able to eat most foods again but I can digest some foods now which is a win in my book.

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is an immunological condition that causes a type of white blood cell to malfunction.

2) Things are still hard, but I was given a second chance at a life, and I'm grateful for that. 🧵⤵️

One day, I stopped being able to digest most food.

Later, I developed constant, severe chronic pain everywhere - it was so severe I’d faint, it sent me to the ER more times than I can count.

Then, there came a moment where I couldn’t digest food at all - it felt like my whole body was shutting down.

3) So I'm happy to oblige, since his character was still in early development I've decided to add a short storyline where River is mentioned to be canonically trans.❤️🏳️‍⚧️

I've updated the audition page to reflect this change - but again, actors aren't required to out themselves❤️

2) Even if this was not initially the plan, I feel it's clear everyone would prefer him to be trans and for this to be mentioned explicitly in game, as many are also wanting a trans actor to play him, it only feels right at this point and I agree it can only make the game better.

1) When I made this casting call the game was still in early development, his character was not necessarily stated to be trans in game, he was just a traveling musician who the trans Player comes out to.

But this post got big on socials, a lot of people got excited for him being trans, so🧵⤵️...

If you're a 🏳️‍⚧️trans actor auditioning, please don't feel like you have to out yourself in order to be cast if you aren't comfortable disclosing.

I don't believe in outing actors and I want to respect your privacy, I will never require you to out yourself in order to audition for one of my projects.❤️
