Well, it does appear to be made up of a different material. I can’t quite make out what mineral(s) it is or how it got there.

Learned how to do proper focus bracketing on my camera and took some new pictures of some actinolite schist and serpentine rocks I found recently.

I learned a long time ago to avoid the comments under any NASA content like the plague.

Though I’m sure the comments will provide some interesting and dark research data to some sociologists 1000 years from now…

Had to learn about the phenomenon of Crystal Twinning to answer why this oligoclase crystal was only reflective on one side at a time.

This is in a chunk of granodiorite found near Alta Dena, CA.

In June 2017, immediately following passage low above the cloudtops of Saturn, Cassini used its Cosmic Dust Analyzer instrument on a study of the rings. Because their pointing matched, the cameras were able to take one of humanity’s first views from inside the vast ring system.

Nuclear weapons. Might cost a bit more than the $1 million prize, but if I destroy the snail and the entire world around it, I might just make it. I’d have to be very sneaky about it, though, so the snail or its vast intelligence network doesn’t find out beforehand.

Is it super intelligent relative to average snail intelligence or human intelligence? This matters

I was actually able to get a few shots of last night’s aurora!

I drove up to Castaic (northern Los Angeles County) with the family to find a darker sky. Couldn’t see much but the camera did.
