No idea what your budget is, but I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my Montblanc wallet (and other MB gear).

It’s definitely a luxury splurge, but after ~10 years of being STUFFED with too many cards and hundreds of thousands of miles of travel, it’s held up super well.

Delta has done right by me through good times and bad. IMO their product is a bit better than the other legacies, but much less so than 5-10 years ago.

Being SEA based my options are Alaska or DL; while I’ll fly AS if flight times/routing is *much* better, I’ll choose DL whenever I can.

The T-Echo is also pretty good, but it’s not water resistant, the e-paper screen can be a bit fragile, and the reset button is in a really stupid location. If you’re looking for an all-in-one communicator (no phone + app required), the T-Deck is a solid choice if you can handle engineer-UI.

YES! What you want is a “T1000-E” they’re around ~$40 from manufacturer, are water/shock resistant, have an integrated antenna, and last ~3d on a charge with GNSS enabled, 5+ with it off.

- 24h after end of the event (start/end date are in config), app resets/wipes and goes back to enter event code screen for the next adventure

- Day of event, radio pairing screen unlocks, I loan out radios to squad for event, walk through pairing process
- App applies config (modem settings + channels + identity) from pre-downloaded info to radio and pairs
- All event long, no internet/network connection needed for map/chat

My general flow is:
- radio nerd of the group sets up a squad on the web portal, gets an event code
- everyone else downloads app, enters code, sets up profile (name/emoji) and downloads Radio & Event config, friends list, and offline map tiles (this step happens AT HOME on WiFi)

I’ve had great success clipping pre-configured T1000-E’s on my lil liabilities and finding em later. Very low success rate at guiding non-technical folks to use the official Meshtastic app to chat/find me.

My goal is to make it simple enough to use while your keyboard drips off the screen 😋

Yeahhhh, the Meshtastic FW works great for this use case, but the apps are hot garbage that require the user to be on the spectrum to chat over the spectrum.

I want to simplify it all down so I can clip a radio on a non-technical friend’s pack for the weekend and not give a UI lecture :P

Sure does! The radio project I’m building atop (Meshtastic) is specifically designed for low/no connectivity usecases like that… but the client (iOS/Android) apps are hot garbage UX-wise, requiring a lil ‘tism to understand; I’m writing a super simplified app for the non-technical crowd :)
