I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word “genocide” but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves

Hey fellow scientists, I'm just letting you know that if you're promoting something with some junky AI image, I'm not gonna click. You've got a workshop, a conference, a new paper?

Just not gonna bother. You want a bespoke image? Hire an illustrator.

a loose line drawing logo in red of a guy holding a pizza. He used to have a chef's hat and no mustache, but now he has Mario's hat and stache. It reads "Mario" on the pizza and "Since 1981" next to his foot

I transformed the local beloved pizzeria mascot into a more internationally known one. Happy Mario Day! #marioday #mar10day

remember when that cronenberg movie 'existenz' came out and it seemed like a fun and silly conceit for there to be freedom fighters taking on corporate conglomerates in an attempt to protect consensus reality from an ocean of digital hallucination

Grammarly turned me into an AI editor against my will and I hate it The company tells Platformer it will let experts opt out of the controversial feature — but how different is it than what every other AI company is doing?

Wait, what?! Grammarly made an AI persona of me and all these other journalists?!!!!!

Thank you @caseynewton.bsky.social for shaming them into at least offering a paltry optout— although obviously that is not enough.

Lengthy article, too lengthy for alt text, about not fearing anger but recognizing it as a signal of injustice from your brain. You can listen using the link in the post.

Greetings from Minnesota, where three things have happened lately.
1. I*E has totally remained.
2. People got mad.
3. They figured out that anger comes from injustice.
Here's what I said about that on this week's edition of my podcast, Depresh Mode with John Moe.

It’s funny if you call PayPal or visa lines and bring this up asking why they claim “adult illustrations” is against their regulations but betting on the death of kids is totally fine. They don’t have an answer.

In fact yall should call them at least once a day with this :)

I let out an audible gasp.

What in the absolute fuck.

There's a dark, dark, history of this. Of forced sterilization.

I am so, so sick.

Neil Sedaka was so talented, and he inspired me to follow my dream of being a songwriter.

Time to Fight: H.R. 7661 Call To Action

Art matters. And what do we do with things that matter? We protect them.

Here is information about H.R. 7661, a US book banning bill that explicitly targets books about trans people, and what you can do right now to help stop it.

years ago The Nib (RIP The Nib) ran a comic about media empires and how everything had been conglomerated into 5 companies. I think with Paramount buying Warner Brothers we're down to 2, maybe 2.5 companies? Meanwhile The Nib is dead and all of us in the wilderness are fully knives out at each other

Onfim’s drawing of himself on horseback as a warrior defeating an enemy. Two of Onfim’s works. On the left is a copy of a passage from the Book of Psalms he did for schoolwork. On the right is an apparently autobiographical depiction of a monster labeled with “I am a wild beast.” Some more spelling practice by Onfim with some human figures who have round heads and varying numbers of fingers on their big hands. Onfim’s writing practice accompanied by 7 little people in his particular drawing style, who tend to have very big hands with many fingers.

Nice AI-image-generating tool, but it will never be as great an artist as Onfim, a child who lived in the Novgorod Republic in the mid-1200s and who scribbled these drawings and schoolwork writings on birch bark at the age of 6 or 7.
