Reporter: You just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a tomahawk and bombed its own elementary school on the first day of the war. But you're the only person in your government saying this. Why?
Trump: Because I just don't know enough about it.
Headlines should have a byline too. Many times the author of the article has no involvement in the headline at all.
NZ has lined up with 'MAGA US states' on oil, former Marsden Point boss says www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Did they ask the people of whom those images are for permission before training and test for privacy violations after training? Ethical AI would be super cool but does any exist?
There are more instances of United States Citizens being detained by ICE than there are of illegal immigrants voting in elections.
With 90% renewable electricity, gas still sets the wholesale price 80% of the time. Fortunately, our domestic gas price isn't currently linked to international prices. IF we import LNG, that will mean that international prices flow through into our gas and hence our electricity prices.
🦠 COVID-19
@helenp-h.bsky.social, speaking to RNZ:
"What many people don't realise is that getting Covid repeatedly is not like building immunity, it's more like accumulating damage," she says.
"Each infection raises your risk of long Covid and serious complications."
The Covid-19 Royal Commission's second report has been published, I've read (almost) all of it and here are the key takeaways:

Prepare for meltdowns from any VFF or similar people in your life. I think they genuinely convinced themselves the phase 2 report was going to prove them right.
Reader, it did not.
We don't need, and crucially cannot trust, politicians to summarise RC reports and tell us what the findings were. If we could we wouldn't need RCs
We have the report itself and journalists for that summary role.
The news value of pol reaction is simply how honest those reactions are
Authorized.
Which points out that life expectancy is the product of 1,000s of policy choices.
It isn't clear that any set of policy choices would have made the pandemic vanish.
But it *is* clear that the sum of US policy choices amount to mortality worse than a Covid-19 pandemic, ongoing, year after year.
What a remarkable statement. Both true and chilling.

New Zealand is extremely fortunate to be less dependent on gas than many countries. Let's keep it that way.
This will get recounted and challenged for sure, and the lead could change, but as of right now two voters just decided the direction of the #ncga Senate. #ncpol
#NZpol This may become relevant again soon?
Simeon Brown has been asked to "lead the response" to the recommendations of the second COVID-19 inquiry.
His announcement of this (next post) could suggest he may play "concerns" that will, in part, have been beaten up by these troll farms.

Trump has brought U.S. job growth to a halt. #EconSky
These negotiations are occurring with no public announcement, no parliamentary oversight, and no consultation.
The public is being kept in the dark while the Government negotiates the handover of our most sensitive personal data to the Trump administration.
Tax billionaires out of existence.
If you’re curious about why Trump lies about facts that are easily debunked, it because IT WORKS for his stupid base and low information voters.
There are ~90 million people alive today because of USAID. Russ Vought illegally shut it down and now is spending the money on himself. These are deeply evil people. www.reuters.com/world/us/whi...
Seymour’s state of the nation speech was actually quite impressive - because he managed to diagnose all the problems correctly, and then proposed policies that will make every single problem dramatically worse. That’s quite some skill

Abolish and defund ICE, of course. Eliminate qualified immunity for all law enforcement, federal and local. Only institute "reforms" that include permanent removal of funding as consequences.
Take every Trump cabinet member and official to civil court for damages against the populace. Strip them of all their assets and nationalize their companies. Leave them with nothing but whatever UBI and public health benefits are passed for everyone.
Cancel all government contracts with Elon Musk and his companies. Shut 'em all down.
Remove all government accounts from X.
As a direct result of the obscene actions of Russell Vought and Elon Musk in destroying USAID, we can expect “at least 9.4 million additional deaths by 2030, if the current funding trend continues.
About 2.5 million of those deaths are projected to be children under the age of 5.”
