idk what mindset i'm in this morning i just. am sick of all of us being hostage to this one person and his supporters and sycophants just deliberately sewing chaos because they can't do therapy and want to make their personal insecurities everyone else's problem.

That machine would be great for rope bowls! The smaller the “head” past the needle the easier to turn up a deep bowl.

The cute is to practice on scrap fabric when you aren’t risking messing up a nice garment.

I got a bag of zippers at a thrift store and some of them were great for practicing.

I practiced sewing on bias binding in the same way.

Yes, same! It’s too bad we couldn’t have gotten those distributions back when we were young and struggling, and putting kids thru college!!!

Ok, it’s messy. And I have no need for smocking. But after watching them do smocking on The Great British Seeing Bee, I decided to try it. Not bad for a first attempt I think.

Yes! I started sewing during covid. I started taking drawing and watercolor classes last year.

Take it from a 70-year-old: moisturize! I followed my grandmother’s example and always moisturized my skin starting in my teens. I put on moisturizer every day as soon as I shower. My skin is pretty smooth and wrinkle free for my age.

Put money in savings regularly and invest it wisely-don’t just leave it in the bank. Save some of everything you earn. You will need this when you are older so you don’t have to work until you die. A comfortable retirement is a wonderful thing.

Watching the sewing bee has really taught me to be more observant of garment construction and pattern matching.

A ruling pen is a cool tool that allows you to apply masking fluid very carefully. It’s a low tech item, originally used with ink for architectural drawings. I really enjoy using mine.

For watercolors, I’d suggest good paper (Arches brand) good paint (Daniel Smith in tubes) masking fluid, and a ruling pen to apply it.

I ordered one from the JC Penney catalog and picked it up in the store. Easy peasy.

Believe me, in New Orleans it’s not that unusual. If I saw one on a porch that had on different outfits all the time, I would just admire the wardrobe and more on. 😂
