Not all Americans are the same. We have always taken our shoes off at the door. Growing up in Iowa there was a messy pile of shoes at the front door. Now in California we have shelves and most people visiting ask if they should take off their shoes. But we need to level up on the slipper front!

Too bad I am in California & can’t get them. I like the idea of hazelnuts & was dreaming about where I could plant them. I don’t have a great location so I will keep on dreaming.

I current have 7 Wyandottes and they are all very sweet. They are great layers. But a couple tend to broody - I don’t know if it is just them or breed related. The two in particular are on the bottom of the pecking order.

My yellow pole beans were doing great until a gopher tunneled under and then climbed the gopher cage to get in and cut the bottoms of the vines. Growing a crop to harvest is a challenge. I did get a good harvest before that but there was more on the vine.

It is exactly like the one I grew up with as well. It gives me so much pleasure to be connected to my mother & my grandmother. I have my mother’s sewing basket as well.

It has both the thigh bar on the right and an optional foot pedal. I use the thigh bar.

1947 Singer sewing machine -AH series.

Here is the table & sewing stool (which opens to a storage compartment.) I paid more for the stool than the machine.

My husband gave me a new fangled machine that I never took to. When I saw this one for sale for $50 I jumped on it.

This my third vintage Singer. I learned on my mother’s & then was gifted one that I used for many years. It finally ground to a halt sewing a fur trapper custom for my son to wear for a living history program. At the time the cost to fix it was prohibitive & the old singers weren’t valued.

I got called on to hem a dress & my trusty 1947 Singer sewing machine did the job. It is an engineering marvel & enabled women to earn money independently. Almost 80 years old and still humming.
