Looking up through the tree canopies, autumn light filters through the leaves. The Japanese word komorebi describes sunlight seen through leaves β€” the shifting radiance where earth meets sky in gold and flame. #Autumn #Trees

The new European Butterfly Red List is published today, with worrying findings. Over 1/4 (28%) of Europe’s 442 species are threatened with extinction or are close to being so. The situation is far worse for our 148 endemic species, 40% are now threatened or nearly so www.bc-europe.eu/webpage.php?...

This year's incredible fruit crop on the lovingly-tended Arbutus unedo aka Strawberry tree at the old stables on St James's Road, Bermondsey. In Portugal, the "strawberries" or medronho are used to make a delicious brandy. We may give it a try if we can beat the birds to them!

"What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make" - Jane Goodall

We’re heartbroken to learn that Dr Jane Goodall has passed away, aged 91.

Dr Goodall was one of the true conservation giants of our time. Let’s honour her legacy by choosing to make a difference in the world - by protecting it.

Thank you, Jane, for everything you did for our planet. πŸ’š

Take a stroll down Grange Walk, wait for the traffic to clear and listen to the buzz. The Japanese pagoda trees (Styphnolobium japonica) are in flower and covered in honey bees. Resilient to climate change, it's a beautiful and much underrated street tree. #Bermondsey @thestreettree.bsky.social
