That pretty much describes it. And the more successful they get the straighter the vague squiggle at the end.

Middle name Andrew here. Agreed, but how about he gets told to revert to Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Then the government can deport him as an immigrant.

Would you pay $3000 for a bed that sends 22Gb of telemetry about you and then goes crazy when AWS goes down?
Non-one has re-made Towering Inferno recently. Maybe due for a new version.
27.10.2025 17:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No matter how nice it would be to have an actual left of centre party replace the Red Tories, Corbyn was the most ineffective leader of the opposition we've ever seen, and seemed to favour Brexit, so their prospects are poor. Greens seem more likely for England. Scotland has far better choices
27.10.2025 16:34 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Hope it all goes smoothly. Haven't been over that way for a long time, due to a rheumatic disease reducing mobility for a few years, but there are no areas that aren't gorgeous - just in slightly different ways. I fell in love on first visit 39 years ago - has never faded.
26.10.2025 17:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Congratulations! It's a really lovely country. November is maybe not the ideal month to move in but the winters have been easier the last few years with less snow, certainly round here. Which part have you bought in?

Bad enough if they were developers - really hope they weren't senior managers.
Either way I'd keep a spare bottle handy for future use.

24.10.2025 18:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ages since I last looked at Bootstrap. Wasn't impressed when I did but it may have improved since then. I mostly avoid the large JS libraries except where there's no option. Used a very good little company whose JS was tight and low-footprint for most things, but they closed after one partner died.
24.10.2025 16:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Flyer detailing how Westminster used Brexit to strip a wide range of important devolved powers from Scotland, and did so whilst excluding Scottish politicians from the 'debate'. 15 minutes. one speaker. No debate. Not a single Scottish MP allowed to speak on the bill. Are you angry yet?
It seems remarkable, yet true, that so many people in Scotland are apparently still ignorant of the huge stripping of Scottish devolved powers by Westminster's Powergrab in 2018. Where have you *been*?
24.10.2025 09:43 โ ๐ 116 ๐ 88 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 7Absolutely. Too many developers saying "look what I can do" instead of "what does this client need". And half of them are pretty ropey on HTML and ignorant of CSS, and can't do anything without a framework.

Thought that. I remember going down for holidays as a kid in the early 60 and I actually remember it in black and white apart from some red bricks and roof tiles. Went back a few years later and the bings had been cleared and suddenly it was in colour - the fields were green!

22.10.2025 19:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That's what my mum's relatives in Durham used to say when there was coal dust in the air and you couldn't see the fields for pit bings. I suspect many around there still don't understand that it was the EU grants that regenerated most of the NE - the Tories would have let them die in poverty.
22.10.2025 19:11 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Surely most Tory cabinet ministers have at least a reading age of 11ยพ. Though their comprehension and logic isn't quite up to that level.
22.10.2025 19:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Judging by the young folk round here they'd be more likely to choose Edinburgh than London. A friend's eldest was there last year. 22.10.2025 19:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have similar words for JS developers who use it to write CSS (which they seldom understand).
