One of my favorite Takoma releases, a 1977 album of pedal steel and dobro ditties/explorations by Cal Hand, with Leo Kottke as the backing guitarist. It seems to be Cal’s sole solo album.

Over just the last couple of weeks, have been feeling "Come On Baby, Let's Go Downtown" more than ever, after listening to Early Daze and a '70 boot, and hearing it in that light. Have enjoyed it for years, but recently been like, damn, that's a good one.

So in Ep1 we start with the version of Row Jimmy that provided the intro to the podcast for all those year. The we range from Peter Rowan to Spacemen 3 to the Stooges. Then a run of upcoming & recent stuff from @billorcutt.bsky.social, James Waudby, @jonrcamp.bsky.social.

Sunday morning coffee and spin

One of the most enjoyable parts of running the label is building lasting relationships. I met John years ago when he played in Nashville. We got to talking about music and animal welfare. Shortly after we were working on his self titled album. Proceed is the second project we have collaborated on.

I went to the same community college in Lake County, IL at the same time as Tim. He was in a locally popular jam band at the time, had a great practice regimen, and it's been cool to see his growth throughout the years into the internationally respected player he is.

A whole lotta creativity, talent, and hard work here. None of it gets easier. But it’s still a lot of fun.
