I just watched the Ultima Thule video and its honestly baffling, arrogant tone throughout the entire video and pretty bad humour on top of the points he tries to make. Not attacking the guy or anything, i think he makes some reasonable points here and there but mostly i dont think this is it bro

I can understand the sentiment somewhat, Endwalker takes some pretty difficult risks in the story and i get that its themes and the way it presents them can just not get to some people, not in the sense of "understanding" them but more in a sense of not vibing with it and that's ok+

It's kinda interesting how it's kinda hard for me to engage with FFXIV discourse much anymore, it's mostly just because of how much that game affected me back in the day.
When Endwalker came out, that shit saved my life, and the sense of community in the fanbase was the best its ever been back then-

also, of course there is a lot of valid criticism out there, but most i've seen to the expansions were always super shallow and oversimplified a lot of the characteristics of the story just to get a point across, i understand this happens everywhere but i noticed happening a lot more with FFXIV fans

i feel you, i absolutely love talking and thinking about Endwalker even if there's no one to talk about it, and i tried to engage in some conversations but it was always super annoying, that made realize how bitter FFXIV fans are and how ShB overshadows everything for them which is sad

I totally see your point, but i also think its fair to say that Garlemald is more of an amalgamation of the recent fascist regimes ideologies and old empires, purely on what it strives and how it works

thats fair, but as you said, even if the "perfect race" was in fact real in the game it does not change the fact that Garlemald was built and planned around restoring the ancients, in which would eventually bring down a massive genocide for that exact purpose.
