To me, a live action remake of an animated film is the equivalent of a photographic recreation of an impressionist painting. Not only is it pointless, it fails to understand the artistic value of the original intention. All they are is unnecessary and a waste of time and money.

EXAMPLE: One time when I was on a train, a school group boarded our carriage. It was a long journey so, just for fun, I drew a Steven Universe character, thinking the child next to me would be impressed.

All they said was: "Oh, that's nice." And then ignored me for the rest of the way ;__;

I used to think the same...until I've recently learnt that no matter what I'm drawing or where I am -- coffee shop, train, park -- nobody takes any notice of me. Sooooo... 🤷🙃

Continuing with my character dressing up for Halloween. Things are going MAD for Lauren and Dewey

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are looking up at the same spot in the ceiling. Green: Do we have a dead moth on the ceiling? Blue: No. It's alive. Green turns to look at Blue, whose eyes are still on the moth. Green: It's what? Blue: It sits in a different spot every morning. Both of the foxes return to looking up at the moth. Green: Should we do something about it? Now Blue turns to look at Green, who keeps staring at the moth. Blue: Make it pay rent? Green: I think it flinched.

I eagerly second the “newspaper style strips are not lesser” thing.

The fact that I’m making a career pivot away from strips into graphic novels isn’t because I think either format is “better.” It’s just different. But I am enormously proud of my work in the strip medium.
