A stylized hypothetical view of a speculative pterosaur ancestor, a gliding intermediate. It features a fuzzy quadrupedal animal with a long head, limbs that are more-or-less of equal length, and a long tail with a fluffy end. The pes and manus show the elongated toe and finger that hold patagia; they are not as developed as much to form a full wing.

Two illustrations: linearts with no colors. One on the left shows the first picture's lineart for a clearer view. The one on the right shows the animal from the ventral (bottom, or stomach) side, with the patagia (the membranes) fully spread.

Some more sketches that were made for fun, made in stylized, simplified form. I played with keeping the animal's form and colour consistency through various poses.

Pterosaur ancestors - how did they look like?? It's a mystery! And something I wanted to explore and illustrate!

When uploading to Bluesky, remember to resize your works to 800%! Why? Images are converted to .jpeg when uploaded. .jpeg compresses the image into 8x8 pixel blocks. If a block has more than one colour, that dreaded compression occurs!

I've been seeing a lot of pixel artists struggle with Bluesky's image compression, so I'd thought I'd share how to get clear, crisp pixels on the site!
