As someone who visits people in that age bracket in their homes, this is zero percent surprising to me. They often have a TV going all the time, and I have to ask if it can be turned off while I visit. You probably only need 1 guess as to which channel those TVs are most frequently on!
It is mystifying to me that various office waiting rooms have not adopted policies around this. I do not want to sick there listening to your inane little videos while at the doctor's office!

I think it is both a lack of offering up good teaching on it. But also, I have found across a number of different local churches, both UM (I was a UM pastor) and Episcopal, that people do not frequently avail themselves of those learning opportunities
He guest lectured in my seminary NT class one day and said "The Rapture isn't in the Bible" and wanted to move on, but even at Duke Div, there were some UPSET people in the room who did not want to move on haha
