Do you know who is organizing this event?
It's half term, which means I have a copy of Primary Reading Simplified to give away.
Simply *repost* this post for your chance to win.
I will choose a winner at random this Saturday (22nd February).
They both arrived the same day! 📖 I’ve been learning a lot about #explicitteaching and #cognitivescience over the past few months. Blake and Zach are standouts in connecting the science to practice. Decisions, decisions, decisions…(which to read 1st?)

Cute! Waiting for my copy… 📕😀
You can add me! 🤗
This is a great episode if you’re looking for more info on #directinstruction & #explicitteaching. I especially like the description of how “explicit teaching is synonymous with scaffolding”. Also how explicit teaching is a sequence that ends with sts being able to generalize and adapt. So good!
Shifts in math instruction that are aligned with #explicitteaching and #scienceoflearning.
Such a great book study selection! Our school did it last year but this YouTube guide would’ve been a great complement. If you haven’t read the book yet, I highly recommend! @lindsaykemeny.bsky.social lays out 7 essential “moves” in such a clear and practical way 👍 #SOR
It’s totally doable! We invested in it for all classrooms k-2 plus supporting materials (whiteboards, magnetic letters, etc). It’s really made our foundational literacy program cohesive. Remind admin: structured literacy is mandated in the #OntEd curriculum and in the #RighttoRead report.
These are like mantras for teachers. 👍❤️

It gives great, user-friendly guidance on the what, why, and how of #explicitinstruction. 2/2
My growing understanding of #cognitiveloadtheory has allowed me to better support sts as they learn foundational skills and concepts across the curriculum. I have used a “sticky note” analogy to describe the temporary nature of working memory, but like this one from @mrzachg.bsky.social too! 1/2
So pretty! ✨Is that just blue construction paper? And did they use chalk? (Can you tell you’ve inspired my next art activity? 😊) #primaryart
#onlit is honestly a treasure-trove of amazing resources! Thank you for sharing this one 🙏❤️. #ontEd #SOR
Needed this today ❤️
Trying to keep this account purely educational. I welcome follows from others interested in #primaryED, #SOR, #scienceofmath, #scienceoflearning, #executivefunctioning, especially those in #ontEd. No politics please! Trying to stick to this—Don’t take it personal if I don’t follow back ☺️
Awesome! 👟👟👟👟
Something stinky, but fun, happened at school today 👟 First, we put our shoes in a pile. Then we decided to sort by colour. Then we organized the groups into lines. Added labels and a title. ✨TADA! ✨We made a concrete graph! “Dark shoes are most popular”. #edusky #primaryEd #primarymath
Funny story! We’re reading “The Gingerbread Man” learning about fairytale, story sequence etc. Having many ELL learners, I like to reinforce vocab quite a bit. So, I ask “What sound does a cow make?” Literally ALL sts reply: “/k/ /ow/“ (I expected “moo!”)
😂😂
My #UFLI lessons are working! #edusky
I’m kinda loving the “newness” of #bluesky! It’s like moving to a new city where u don’t know anyone yet so you’re more willing to take risks and get out of your comfort zone. Let’s keep the energy going and build this platform up! #edusky
This mindset for teaching and learning really resonates with me. When we are learning something knew, it will be inherently “hard”. But the process, perseverance, and working through the hard truly does bring JOY. It looks like focus, motivation, and confidence in students. (My book is on order! 👍)
Interesting & helpful. Can see it in a couple of my sts. Using many strategies already.
Is DLD something that could get diagnosed by a practitioner? How can we/teachers guide parents on this?
And this one is good for upper elementary ideas: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/s...
Just used this tool to add/follow some great accounts in #SOR #ontED #structuredliteracy #scienceoflearning
🚨Give it a try!
Omg! Are you me?! 😅
The Toronto District School Board is the largest in Canada, and one of the largest in North America, with ~238,000 students. They recently published a new literacy strategy. Let's read it together. You can follow along here: www.tdsb.on.ca/Portals/lite...
