others are still waiting for the rain to stop and the floodwaters to crest. Though it may be invisible from outside TX, many of us are engaged in advocacy and activism, demanding climate action now to stop the escalating risk of extreme events like this. We must continue.

The climate crisis is here, right now, killing people - children - without any regard for political affiliation. This is an ongoing tragedy - thankfully my family and friends are safe but some are without power and unable to leave their homes until the water recedes...

Please follow local news for a better understanding of what happened (@texaspublicradio.bsky.social) than what the state may claim. Last month, 13 people died in a flash flood here in urban San Antonio. This is a serious, well-studied regional hazard that is getting worse with climate change.

Keeping these families with missing loved ones in my heart. Yes, there were warnings. This is at least a once-in-200 year event, probably much more. Cabins that have been safe for a century were washed away.

Live updates: At least 27 people have died in Guadalupe River flooding The death toll included 18 adults and nine children. Local officials said untold more are missing.

Struggling to find the words to describe how heartbroken I am for my central TX community. My daughter and so many of her friends attend summer camps in the Hill Country, just like my husband and I did when we were kids here.

Cenizo, with its soft silver leaves and showy lavender blooms, aka the barometer bush. Let's hope this beauty I spotted today is a harbinger of more rain for west and central Texas tonight and tomorrow
