Purple mountain laurel blooming against a brick building A single, lonely bluebonnet blooming in rocky terrain

It is 95°F (35°C) here in San Antonio today. Previous record high for today was 91°F. Mountain laurel bloom will likely be cut very short, and bluebonnets are emerging early.

In this new analysis, Ben Leffel + @sovacool.bsky.social argue that, "as national-focused orthodoxy in climate policy has proven insufficient to address the climate crisis, a shift is needed, centering cities as pivotal actors in global climate mitigation" -- and I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.

CHN Francophone Coordinator shares his thoughts as we approach the conclusion of COP30 Remarks from Moussa Elimane Sall "From my humble first reading of the UAE–Belém outcome, one thing is unmistakable: we finally have a concrete tool to advance global adaptation (and cultural heritage)...

CHN leaders in Brazil advocated tirelessly for culture-based climate solutions at #COP30. Moussa Elimane Sall took a moment to reflect on his experience with a call to action to leverage this momentum to insist "Climate action without culture is incomplete."

Interesting. @kuminaidoo.bsky.social posed a similar question last week at a pre #COP30 #climateheritage symposium in Rio.
Many in the room who had previously aligned more closely with A were now answering C, myself included.

Agree! Also I asked ¿por qué no los dos? at this culture + climate seminar in Rio today and got a nice laugh, but it was in reference to the silliness of dichotomous categorization of climate action strategies as either adaptation or mitigation 🤓

In the midst of one of those travel stories where a missed connection means a 24 hour delay - enter a very patient and inventive airline agent et voila, I am in Brazil only a few hours later than my original flight! I was the last person to board the flight from DFW to Sao Paulo 🤪 On to Rio!
