New article: I theorize the role of "epistemic ambiguity" in U.S. ethnoracial data with coauthor Aliya Saperstein. We find interviewers & respondents negotiate uncertainty about who has authority to determine someoneโs race, producing inconsistency in how similar responses are quantified.
