We used the free-roaming cat population on Linosa to develop a Bayesian statistical model to estimate population dynamics and assess the varying impacts of neutering efforts over time, also evaluating different budget scenarios based on the intensity of neutering efforts applied.

The management of cat populations is a complex eco-sociological dilemma. The public often supports TNR to them. A limited understanding of cat population dynamics, combined with inadequate planning and resource allocation, can lead to ineffective outcomes.

π Excited to share our new paper!
We modelled the free-roaming cat population on Linosa and built an interactive tool to help plan effective, cost-efficient TNR programs. π±π
