I've been alternating between Manic Street Preachers, Disney music, and Dick Wolf TV shows and I'm pretty sure this is an accurate representation of me and also that that's not good thing.

I rewatched within the last year or two and have completely forgotten this even happened.

Based on the structure of character development in 5-8, it would make sense to introduce this and then have payoff episodes or seasons later, and I still don't understand how it never came up when they had her working SVU.

I completely agree, and yet it feels like the only time they let her show vulnerability at all. But on the other hand her only vulnerability is through her sexual assault, which is in and of itself unfeminist.

The reveal is definitely in the wrong place- they put it at the end of the episode and never revisited it. But it made me do my entire rewatch of her seasons thinking about what it could have been if they'd actually let it shape her

I feel like "Punk" in season 9 is a great episode for what Abbie COULD be if they'd actually worked from there, and key to what she could have been on SVU. But it's easier to make her the Token Right-Winger- ironically, considering how far right L&O has swung by now.
