I can't canvass so I've been trying to engage with Jewish Democrat groups online, and it's been an Experience.

Sometimes I'm like "i don't know why people think I'm a fundamentally boring person" and other times I get very excited over how much finding a new straw for my nalgene has improved my day.

I really appreciate every person (both Jewish and not) who's acknowledging that being a proud NYC Jew isn't in conflict with supporting Mamdani. I hate that I feel like I need to hear it so much, but I appreciate it every time I see it.

Seeing how many people seem to believe supporting Mamdani is in direct conflict with Jewish values but fucking CUOMO is the advocate we need... this election cycle has been so disheartening from almost every angle.

#nycpoli Mamdani ISN'T the future of the Democratic party. Because the Dems don't have just one future. It shouldn't be people echoing the party line, but rather representing their constituents. Mamdani is one future of the Democratic party. Spanberger is another. Jeffries... probably not so much.

The large number of people I've seen calling Mamdani "the Tr*mp of the left" indicates that if it were an op they wouldn't be that on-target.

Honestly I think more people should advertise one by showing their support for the other. It's much more effective when they do it voluntarily than when we point it out.

I know I'm not changing the minds of the people I'm trying to talk with, but maybe some people lurking are seeing that the vitriol isn't just settled fact.

I know that getting into fights on the internet is pointless and I'm probably not making much of a difference, overall, but pushing back against some of the worst anti-Mamdani rhetoric at least makes me feel less powerless in the lead-up to Tuesday.

I feel like people are projecting a lot of their anxieties on this race, and I'm trying to leave space for the fact that people who practice their Judaism differently may have reasonable concerns that don't resonate with me, in the hopes they'll recognize the same about me for Mamdani. EXTREMELY stressed out over not being able to find some pins, by which I mean I have like 100 PDFs with 12-30 pins each and ten pins are missing and WHAT IS EVEN THE POINT OF HAVING OCD AT THIS RATE

But it has led me to the point where I'm grateful to the people who think Mamdani is a threat to Judaism but still push back against Islamophobia. It really hammers in how it's possible to disagree STRONGLY but still be a decent human. I cannot believe this is a point I need to find relief with, but

I have (correctly, because they are infuriating) been focusing my energy on the parts of the Jewish electorate who refuse to see that Islamophobia is a problem, who look at any Jewish leaders who support Mamdani as betraying Judaism, who are being absolutely vicious with terrible takes.

Why are we so focused on Mamdani — not Nazi-inspired ideas proliferating on the right? Jews are concerned about antisemitism amid Zohran Mamdani's mayoral run. They're concentrating on the wrong side of the political spectrum.

I’m heartbroken that my rabbinic colleagues are focused on Mamdani, while Jew-hatred that consumed the lives of synagogue goers has become official GOP — and government — policy.
